ICEF Rugby 

At ICEF Rugby, we go beyond the game to foster leadership and character development. Using rugby as a powerful vehicle, our mission is to equip students with essential life skills. Through our extensive and unique offerings, we have introduced thousands of students to the transformative power of rugby. The impact extends far beyond the playing field, as many of our students continue their rugby journey in college and on teams worldwide. ICEF Rugby is more than a sports program, it' s a dynamic platform for building resilient individuals who carry lessons of leadership and character into every facet of their lives. ​

ICEF Rugby's mission is to cultivate leadership skills and build character in young individuals by harnessing the transformative power of rugby. We are dedicated to using this dynamic sport as a vehicle for social change, fostering a community where teamwork, resilience, and integrity lay the foundation for a brighter and more inclusive future. Through our program, we aim to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders with the values and skills needed to make a positive impact on society, both on and off the rugby field.​

ICEF RUGBY INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHIES

Stuart Krohn | Program Director

Program Director Stuart Krohn graduated from the UC Santa Barbara as an All-American rugby player. He then spent 13 years travelling the globe as a professional rugby player in France, New Zealand, South Africa and Hong Kong. He later coached at Dartmouth College then led the Santa Monica Men's Club team to two National Championships. A founding teacher at ICEF Public Schools, Stuart founded ICEF Rugby in 2003. Since then, he has led hundreds of ICEF students on 15 different international rugby tours, including China, Japan, the Philippines, Tahiti, New Zealand, Fiji, Brazil, Tanzania, South Africa, England and France.

Lisa Finegan | Program Co-Director

Lisa Finegan is a certified World Rugby Educator and was recognized as the World Rugby 7's Series USA Developmental Coach of the Year Award in 2021. From Ireland, Lisa pursued her academic journey at St Mary's University, London, where she earned a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science. She later pursued higher education at Brunel University, London, pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Teaching and a Master's in Education.  As the Co-Director of ICEF Rugby, she has led teams on cultural and educational rugby expeditions worldwide, including Africa, Fiji, Hong Kong, The Philippines, Brazil, and New Zealand. And, as a true advocate for athletes' well-being, Lisa contributes to the Advisory Board for Courage First Athletes Helpline. ​
