Coffee with the Principal and Title I

We want to give a shout out to all of the parents who came out to the Coffee with the Principal on Friday.  We had a great conversation about Title I, our online programs, Black History and more.  We our excited to see the work that comes out of that conversation.  As Mr Washington stated before, "View Park is on its way to greatness".  Parents, we need your continued Parent Leadership to help make it happen!

5th Grade Culmination

Attention all 5th grade parents.  The 5th grade Culmination is scheduled for June 9th and it will be here before you know it.  We will host a 5th grade Culmination meeting this Tuesday, January 24th at 5:00pm in the MPR.  We will review culmination expectations and requirements to ensure that there are no surprises in June.  We have high expectations for our scholars and it is important that you and your scholar know what they are.  If you are a parent of a 5th grade scholar, please plan to be in attendance.

Don't wait and end up on the waitlist!!

If you know anyone who is interested in sending their children to View Park, our enrollment window is now open. After-school Clubs

Permission forms for the Lego Engineering Club are now available.  Scholars can come down to the office to pick one up.  If we receive more permission forms than slots available, scholars will be selected based on school attendance and behavior.  Those scholars not selected will be put on a waiting list for the next class.  Lego Engineering Club will start next week Tuesday Jan. 31st for the elementary school and Thursday Feb. 2nd for the middle from 3:45pm to 4:45pm.  They will meet once a week on Tuesdays for the elementary school and Thursdays for the middle school for 6 weeks after that.

Our View Park Chess Club starts this Tuesday at 3:45 and our Comic Book Club will continue weekly on Thursdays as well. Parents, just so you know, our clubs are all scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays because we have Air Tutoring after school on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Air Tutoring is a math tutoring service for any 3rd - 5th scholar needing additional help in math.   We still have slots available if you would like for your scholar to participate.  Just simply let your teacher know and they will reach out to us.

MATH

View Park is offering a service called AirTutors after school.  Air Tutoring is a virtual program where certified teachers work with scholars online in small groups of 5:1.  AirTutoring takes place after school on Mondays from 4:00 - 4:45pm and on Wednesdays from 1pm-1:45pm. AirTutoring is provided to scholars in grades 3-5.  We have a limited number of slots available so sign your scholar up today.  To register, please complete the Air Tutor registration link in the Parent Square message, or return the letter that was sent home with your scholar or call the school and ask for your scholar to be added to the list.  If your scholar is in the ARC after school program, they are automatically enrolled in the program.

In addition to the Air Tutoring, we need all scholars working on their online programs at home on Mondays and also over the Winter Holiday break. Scholars suffered learning loss during the remote learning due to Covid.  We do not want them experiencing more learning loss over the break.  To prevent learning loss, scholars will need to complete two lessons per week on iReady over the Winter Break.  This is a total of 6 lessons over the 3 week holiday.  Each lesson must have a pass rate of 70% or higher.  If their pass rate is less than 70% then they will need to continue completing lessons until they pass 6 lessons with a score higher than 70%.

Scholars will need to complete 4 Achieve articles per week with an accuracy rate of 75% or higher.  If their pass rate is less than 75% then they will need to continue completing lessons until they pass a total of four lessons with a score higher than 75%.

Scholars who go above and beyond and complete and pass 7-9 lessons on iReady or 13-15 lessons on Achieve 3000 will receive Free Dress passes.  Scholars who complete and pass 10 iReady lessons or 16 or more Achieve lessons will be entered into a drawing for Free Movie Tickets.  Scholars who complete and pass both 10 or more iReady lessons and 16 or more Achieve lessons will be entered into a raffle to receive tickets to an amusement park.
